Packwood U13 v Shropshire U12 – A Tense T20

On a pleasant Tuesday afternoon, the Packwood U13A team played out a tense T20 against Shropshire U12s. Shropshire won the toss and put Packwood into bat. This seemed a good call as the Shropshire bowlers piled the pressure on the Packwood boys with precise line and length. Packwood struggled to get the run rate going and after 10 overs were 30 for 4. Without many of the top order getting going, it took a late surge from Dylan-B, Harry-T and Jiro to take the total to 76 with the loss of 8 wickets.

A tough total to defend, however, the Packwood bowlers set about bowling tight overs from the off. The pick early on being Huwie, with 3 overs for just 6 runs. After a steady start and looking on course to reach the total, Shropshire were 48 when the second wicket fell. This began a shift in the balance of the game and as more wickets fell the Packwood team began to take control. Dylan picked up figures of 4 overs for 9 runs and 2 wickets, whilst Louis, who bowled the final over, secured the win with a double wicket maiden. Shropshire finished 70 for 7, just 7 runs shy of their target. A competitive and enjoyable game to watch. We wish Shropshire well for their season ahead.
