The U13 squad travelled to Aldershot last week to take part in the highlight of the lacrosse calendar, the National Schools Lacrosse Championships. The U13 tournament ended four days of high-level school lacrosse over seven different age categories from U13 to U19. It is one of the largest school sports competitions in the country, with over 3000 girls taking part from 54 schools across the UK.
It was a rather overwhelming experience for many of the girls who had not had much experience of playing teams out of our usual Shropshire circuit. However, they became more confident as the tournament progressed. Our pool consisted of Birkenhead, St Georges Harpenden, Lady Eleanor Holles, Downe House and Bedford Girls. It was an amazing experience for the girls, who also enjoyed an overnight stay in the stunning location of the Youth Hostel at Holmbury St Mary. We enjoyed a great deal of chat, laughter and games.
