girls awarded with runner up medals for cricket

Lady Taverners Regional Finals

Having gone through undefeated in both the Shropshire District round and the County finals, our first match at Edgbaston was a wake-up call against the excellent Oxfordshire Champions, St Helen and St Katharine Girls School (SHSK) (nicknamed Hellcats!).  Their accurate bowling and powerful batting proved to be a real challenge and resulted in a win for SHSK. The Packwood girls recovered brilliantly to achieve 107 runs in their second game against Hereford Cathedral School to qualify for the semi-final.

Semi Final:

Packwood 94-5

St John Taylors (Staffordshire Champions) 78 all out

A fantastic performance with Maddie and Freya leading the way with a strong start. Phoebe and Willow both took important wickets to restrict St John Taylors to 78.

Final (against SHSK):

St Helen and St Katharine 97-3

Packwood 94 all out

Lost by 3 runs

Packwood needed 9 runs to win in the last over with retired batters Jessica and Maddie back in.  (Both batted superbly in the early overs).  Sadly, after a good start to the over, we lost both girls to excellent catches in a fabulous game of cricket. Good luck Hellcats at the National Finals at Lords.

Our girls played brilliantly and were delighted to be awarded their Runner Up medals by Old Salopian and England cricketer, Issy Wong. Well done all!
