On Saturday 18th March, Packwood took part in the John Weaver Dance Competition hosted by Shrewsbury School. Our Year 6 and 8 girls performed a ballet piece based upon the idea of a dream. And the Year 8 group performed a contemporary piece based upon how diverse our society is. The contemporary piece won its category with our dancers returning for Sunday’s final, in which they placed third. The cast performed beautifully, with plenty of Packwood character and our usual bout of humour.
This week, we also took a junior and a senior piece to the Gotta Dance show at Theatre Severn. The juniors (Year 6 and 5 children) performed a street/commercial piece. And the seniors (Year 7 and 8) a commercial piece with a good dose of Charleston. The children enjoyed every second and performed with masses of confidence and charisma.
75 children auditioned to be part of these fantastic dance experiences – it is a delight to see dance thriving at Packwood.
