Riding high at Princethorpe

Packwood’s horse riders were back in action over half-term competing at the Princethorpe College two day event – and it proved to be a very successful occasion with both teams finishing strongly.

Head of Riding at Packwood, Mrs Wall, reports, “The first day of the competition was devoted to dressage tests and the show jumping round. Zennor H put in an excellent performance and won the trophy for the best dressage.

“Day two was cross-country day. The children completed two roads and tracks sections; jumped a selection of steeplechase fences at galloping speed and last of all, tackled the final cross-country discipline, jumping a variety of obstacles including ditches, water jumps and solid wooden fences.

“The 80cm team including Venetia H, Sienna M and Felix B finished as runners-up overall, and the 90cm team (Zennor H, Archie T and Archie B) went one better, claiming not only team victory but also individual first place for Zennor H to cap a perfect weekend for her.”
