Packwood Pupil’s Poetry Published

Packwood pupil Amelia, currently in Year 8, has recently had her first book of poetry ‘Different Angles’ published. Amelia spoke to BBC Radio Shropshire this week about her success, and an extract from the interview can be listened to here: Evenings on BBC Radio Shropshire – With Maisie Olah – 15/03/2021 – BBC Sounds (from 39 mins 45 secs).

Amelia has a genuine talent for writing poetry, which she began aged 9. In her poems, she draws on her life experience and expresses her feelings in a catchy, and often metaphorical style.

In Amelia’s interview she explains how helpful poetry can be: “don’t bottle it up, express your feelings and make a positive experience out of a negative one”.

Amelia is also Under 12 GB sabre champion at fencing, so clearly has a bright future ahead of her!
