Every year the French department at Packwood run an elocution competition, whereby all children from Y3 to Y8 learn a poem in French. The children are given a choice out of three different poems and the difficulty and length increases as they progress through the school. Each child preforms in front of their class, with the best performing in the theatre at the end of term and judged by the Head of French from Shrewsbury School.
This year the Packwood French Elocution has grown into a larger inter-schools competition all over England, Wales as well as abroad (Bulgaria, Spain, Russia, Jordan and very recently UAE). It is called Poésíæ. The competitors now range from Year 3 to Year 9 and three languages are spoken: French, German and Spanish.
The top 3 competitors in each year group (whose names will be decided before the 8th March) will make their way to a global final on Flipgrid where new videos will be uploaded and judged by neutral adjudicators. The winners of the Poésíæ Competition will be announced on the 14th April.
