‘Henry the Horse – Be Safe Around Horses’
Years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a presentation from the British Horse Safety Team where they learned about how to be safe around horses. Des and Alan from the British Horse Society told them all about the enhanced senses of horses and the flight instinct that they have. They told the children how to be good pedestrians, cyclists and car drivers when passing horses on the road. They learned that they need to slow down, give the horses space, pass slowly and move away slowly. The children put all of this into practice in role play exercises. Des and Alan finished the session off by awarding all the children a rosette and given them information packs.
