The best school?

Again this year Packwood is pleased to be included in the UK’s leading independent guides to the best schools in the country.

The Good Schools Guide is a trusted and highly respected source of information for parents and the UK’s leading guide to schools of all types across the country. We are delighted with the outstanding review of Packwood in the recently published 2016 edition which highlights the ‘aspirational learning environment’, notes that ‘boarding is a specialism’ and assesses Packwood overall as a ‘top-tier prep school’.

We are also proud to be included in Tatler’s Schools Guide 2018 – an independent guide to the UK’s Top 225 prep and public schools.

Here’s what they say in the guide:

Under Headmaster Clive Smith-Langridge, Packwood has come of age just in time for its 125th anniversary. Parents praise Packwood’s ‘magic formula’: it’s non-selective, but everyone passes CE and goes on to a range of schools with fistfuls of scholarships – ‘the value-added is tremendous,’ says an insider. Historians and geographers toured The Netherlands (‘everyone else goes to France,’ Mr S-L points out), and the U13 girls’ cricket team reached the Lady Taverners’ final at Lord’s for a third year running. While we’re thinking cricket, houses are known as ‘sixes’ here. This is the only prep in the area to offer full-boarding, and weekends are activity-packed. We approve of Mr S-L’s draconian no-mobile-phone policy, but screen fiends needn’t despair: there are plenty of iPads for lessons, and on Gadget Night everyone gets a go on them, unless they’re busy in Retro Video Games club (how do we join?).

Packwood also features regularly in the news pages and is included in the directory of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) official magazine, Attain, the leading magazine of the independent schools’ sector. Please click here to see our listing.
