Riding

Packwood’s riding club caters not only for children who have their own ponies but also for those who don’t. Those who aren’t pony owners are accompanied to the nearby Prescott Equestrian Centre for riding lessons which take place throughout most of the school year. Prescott tailors lessons for all abilities from complete beginners to those already cantering and jumping. We group the children by ability and they ride in groups of between four and six.

The pony owners are encouraged to take part in the qualifier competitions run by the National Schools Equestrian Association. The NSEA run Show Jumping and Show Jumping with Style (Arena Eventing) classes. Our goal is to qualify both teams and individuals for the prestigious National Championships which are held at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire every October. Packwood has earned a fearsome reputation within this area and our riders are respected for their achievements as they often find themselves competing against children much older than themselves.

Other equestrian activities have included a Combined Training competition; Mounted Games fun day; and a session for boarders when Miss Bright brought her pony into school and taught them some of the basics of good practice when caring for a pony.
