County cricket champs

Packwood’s cricketers capped off a busy and successful term in style earlier this week when the school hosted – and contested – the Under 12 David English Bunbury Cup final, the annual competition run by Shropshire Cricket Board to find the best in the county.

The Packwood team was up against Ludlow School in what proved to be an excellent, entertaining game with strong batting performances to the fore.

Between the two teams, four 50s were notched up, including a superb captain’s innings of 55 from George S. Packwood’s other top scorers were Freddie T (51 not out) and Will G (50 not out). There was also a terrific 55 from Ludlow’s Jack Cunmouth who was later named Man of the Match.

Ultimately, Packwood’s consistency in all areas saw them triumph by a convincing margin of 105 runs; the final score was Packwood (196 for 1), Ludlow (91 for 6). The victory means Packwood will go on to represent Shropshire in the national rounds of the competition next year.
